The Nordic Bakery (London)

A Cinnamon Rollmance
Are you obsessed with all things Scandinavian/Nordic and is your favourite font Helvetica? Then you need to visit this London coffee shop.
I have been busy exploring as many new food spots as I can located the Chocolate design Studio (W1), and when the connoisseur of beautiful print, Graham of Evolution Print came to London and asked to meet for a coffee inspiration session, I didn’t hesitate to take him for tasty treats from The Nordic Bakery at Golden Square near Soho. I love a good sticky bun to no end {and actually prefer a bun over cake, shock horror!}. Their cinnamon buns are delicious: sticky and sweet, crusty outside hiding a light, buttery dough inside, layered with swirls of aromatic cinnamon and cardamom sugar. Delicious. The Nordic Bakery offers both sweet and savoury options, the menu choice isn’t big but it’s a great place for a cup of coffee and catch up with friends.
Staying true to the designer side of me, the use of Helvetica, while quite a saturated typeface is strong, functional and compliments the aesthetic values of the store – echoing on their typographical posters hung on their tall walls through to food packaging (of pre-packed bakery products) and cover of their Nordic cookbook. The little Swedish chairs, the plainly decorated plates, the staff uniform, the tall windows… everything really was in true Nordic fashion, very tasteful. — Missie Cindz
