I love my brand new plush toy! – are we ever too old to play with dolls? NAH!

Thank you Kipi Ka Popo for the Missie Cindz makeover – Gok Wan, eat your heart out!
I was absolutely thrilled when the very talented Kipi Ka Popo, agreed to make a Missie Cindz plushy for me. I’ve always loved dolls, a Sindy, Barbie, My Little Pony, Cabbage Patch doll? I had them all….and it was about time I gave the Missie Cindz a treat too but instead of shipping her off to Trinny and Susannah for a makeover, I knew the Missie would be in safe hands with Kipi, and I must say she looks a doll too! :) – see photos above. Nice work.

I’m a big fan of Kipi’s design work and it was great to finally meet her a drink and hi-five her in person in my favourite Sheffield pub too (I’m sure it’s not too difficult to guess where this was). Kipi, Designer and Illustrator, Lydia, when she’s not designing she enjoys making plush toys from either her own designs or artist commission. Her portfolio includes work with artists Tado, Jon Burgerman and Finger Industries. Lydia has also created her own designs for the agency Purple Circle, and the Lazy Oaf store in London – see her plushy portfolio here.

My design brief for Lydia was simple: to make ‘Missie Cindz’ 3D, in a lively and charismatic manner. I tend to take the Missie (paper cut-out) everywhere with me in my bag but lately the paper version was always getting creased and tatty, plus it wasn’t very sturdy for when I used her to model with my lunch/dinner food photos. Your Missie C is currently on a Sheffield Food Adventure, so make sure you keep your eyes opened for her (Twitpic a photo to me if you see her hanging in some tasty food joint) and that fork of hers isn’t slowing down either (the teeths actually need sharpening!).

We’ve got lots of exciting and tasty things planned for you. Such as, I’ve got our first Pudding Club with the Rutland Arms planned for mid-September (more details about this will follow in the next few days) and then there’s also interesting things planned for Missie’s new food friend @BazzaNoms who will make his first feature in Sheffield’s S1 magazine next month.

So I (Cindy) have been (and will be) super duper busy! – it’s all fun stuff though.
