The Royal Ancient roast beef and onion sandwich
It’s gone awfully wet and miserable this week, a definite sign of the autumn long nights and short days (it won’t be long til we turn the clocks backwards too!) and when the shops start dolling up their stores excessively with tinsel and all things sparkly….
I needed to beat the cold weather the other day and treated myself to a warm and meaty (fully-loaded) winter sandwich. Roast beef and onion sandwich served with ‘real’ chips, salad and creamy coleslaw – delicious!! This plateful of happiness (as pictured above) definitely warmed up my belly!
The hefty sandwich was from The Royal Ancient, a country pub and restaurant conveniently located within easy reach of Huddersfield, Brighouse and Mirfield. It was a nice change to meet a new local pub who offered freshly prepared home cooked meals made with locally sourced and prepared ingredients available daily. Their menu is made up of a selection of traditional favourites (fish and chips, pies, roasts, etc…) along with a Specials board and theme nights where they offer something a little different.
The challenge to empty your plate will be a struggle, the roast sandwich was simply beautiful with the food absolutely piping hot. The staff are very friendly as well with a totally brilliant level of helpfullness. I recommend this restaurant if you’re around Huddersfield – it’s a little tucked away but keep your eyes opened for it as you’re driving towards Huddersfield :)
