The Broadfield Summer Fete - Monday 4th June

The Broadfield Summer Fete - Monday 4th June

This weekend marks 60 years of the Queen’s reign, with communities across the country enjoying an extended bank holiday weekend.

Not sure where to wave that handmade Britannia flag? Well, if all the baking and cocktail making seems too much like hard work, there’s lots of events taking place in Sheffield over the bank holiday too. Here’s my pick of the best bank holiday street parties and gatherings. We hope you enjoy the festivities.

The Broadfield, Abbeydale Road, Sheffield
Piggy Matron here, has also been invited to take part in the Broadfield’s Diamond Jubilee Summer Fète on Monday 4th June, starting at 12pm. They’re having a numerous of exciting bits and bobs going on throughout the day including a Punch and Judy show, live music comes from a brass band and a cake competition which I’ve been told is going to be one of the key features of their event. I am thrilled to have been asked to be a cake judge as part of their baking competition! An afternoon of cake eating, perfect!! :)

I’m looking forward to seeing some of you here and please come up to say “hello” to me if you see me gorging on cake or sipping some fruit punch – it’d be rude not to!

Urban Pantry, Crookes (@UrbanPantryDeli)
To celebrate the Diamond Jubilee weekend Urban Pantry, a new delicatessen in Crookes with a wide choice of locally sourced food and drink, will be having a ‘Best of British’ Tasting Day. Come in on Saturday to see them and taste some of their shop’s lovely delicious food offerings.

The Jubilee Big Lunch at Our Cow Molly
Our Cow Molly will be hosting ‘The Big Lunch’ party on Sunday up at their farm in Dungworth. Quite simply, the idea of The Big Lunch is to get as many people as possible to sit down, have lunch with their neighbours and to meet new people. The Big Lunch is all about community, friendship and fun! So why not join in and enjoy some lovely Our Cow Molly ice cream too? Take a picnic, blanket and enjoy your lunch from 11am. Parking and entry is free.
