Day 5 of #MissiesSocialCalendar: A month of discovering, using and supporting local (food) neighbours. Today we were talking about Christmas Markets, asking people which markets they would be attending for a cuppa mulled wine with mince pie.

Southbank Centre Christmas Market
I found plenty more than just gingerbread houses and hot mulled wine here, with over 50 cute wooden chalets that make up the Southbank Centre Christmas Market there were plenty of offerings to whet my appetite and get me in the mood for Christmas. From personalised Santa’s sacks to sheepskin rugs, local mead and jams, handmade door wreaths and even Grilled Cheese and Tomato Soup (no joke) or lobster mac ‘n’ cheese – there’s plenty of goodies available to suit everyone’s tastes and gifting needs.

It was a lovely (freezing) evening browsing the Southbank food stalls. I saw that the market was just one part of the Southbank Centre Winter Festival, there was also a special editions of the Real Food Market, too. Where you can easily pick up gifts such as charcuterie, speciality cheeses, traditional sweets and assorted craft beers. The joy of just being at a market during the festive season often is one of my highlights of December. Just make sure you loose count of the number of mince pies you scoff – and that’s fairly easy to do in my books! :)
